A new role for learning support teachers is to encourage students to develop their strengths. Many believe that the way to make students optimistic and resilient is to eliminate their weaknesses, but positive psychology tells us that building optimism and resilience involves focusing on a student’s talents and positive character traits. Students learn to internalize the idea that they have strengths and can take advantage of their strengths while simultaneously working on their weaknesses.

My top 2 signature strengths are LOVE of LEARNING and PERSEVERANCE. I use them daily and feel invigorated. They manifest themselves in my passion for reading. My current focus is POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY and how strengths can support students with SEN.
